Hey Everyone,

Here are the meeting minutes from monday (1/26/2009):

1.INTRODUCTIONS

We had a great meeting with a lot of new faces.  We thank everyone who was able to make it.  THANKS!

2.WINTER TERM EVENTS:

Awareness Week 2/3/2009 and 2/4/2009

We will be passing out fliers in the Quad to spread awareness of the conflict/genocide and announcing our upcoming winter term events.   An e-mail will be sent out to sign up for time slots.

Vagina Monologues: 2/10/2009

During V week, STAND will be giving a presentation about rape as a weapon of war in the Congo.  An e-mail will be sent out to sign up to participate in that presentation as well.

STAND Valentine's Get Together 2/14/2009

There will be a fun get-together at Mallory's House (23rd and Van Buren) from 2:00-4:00PM.

Social Justice Movie Night @ The Women's Center 2/19/2009

STAND and the Women's Center will be working together to put on monthly inspirational movie nights.  We will be showing Born Into Brothels at 6:00PM on the 19th.  Come join us! 

Dine for Darfur 2/23/2009

STAND and participating restaurants will be hosting Dine for Darfur--an event where restaurants donate a percentage or lump sum of the money made on the February 23rd.  Proceeds will go to KIDS for KIDS, an organization created to help families living in Darfur by providing them necessities, like water and food and training them how to efficiently care for themselves with the resources available.  We are currently in the process of sending letters to restaurants.

3. TASKS

For the Awareness Week and V-Week Presentation we will be needing volunteers to

A) Pass out fliers

B) Present part of the Congo presentation (already put together for us)

For Dine for Darfur, we will be needing volunteers to

A) Pass out letters to local restaurants

B) Design a poster or logo for Dine for Darfur...Don't be shy!!! 

C) EAT on Feb. 23rd at  your favorite participating restaurant!
